Abstract:
The Lat/Lon 1-degree Graticule dataset represents lines of latitude and longitude for the Utah Wilderness Atlas.
Purpose: To provide a latitude and longitude reference.
Supplemental_Information:
Geographic coordinates are based on latitude and longitude. Parallels of latitude are imaginary circles drawn around the globe parallel to the equator. The parallels are numbered according to the angle in degrees formed between a line from the line of latitude to the center of the earth and a line from the center of the earth to the equator. A meridian of longitude is the position of a point on the globe in terms of degrees east or west of the Prime Meridian, which has a value of 0 degrees and runs between the North and South Pole through Greenwich, England. The distance between degrees of latitude is approximately 111 km, while the length of a degree of longitude varies according to latitude.
