Abstract:
The July 2003 MODIS Natural Color Image represents a spaceborne sensor's view of the Utah Wilderness Atlas extent on September 23, 2002. The dataset is from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument aboard the NASA Terra satellite. MODIS bands 1,4,3 = RGB.
Purpose:
To provide a background image for GIS layers and to show landforms.
Supplemental_Information:
Spatial resolution (pixel size) is 250 meters. The three MODIS bands represented in this image are visible color bands defined as follows: Band 1 Red (620-670 nm), Band 4 Green (545-565 nm), and Band 3 Blue (459-479 nm). Forested areas are dark green on the image, and the "redrock" of the Colorado Plateau can be seen. There is a smoke plume from an active wildfire on the Henry Mountains.
