Foreword

Utah is known for its geographical diversity and wide, open spaces. Most of wild forests and canyons found on our national forests, national parks and monuments and other public lands are not yet included in the National Wilderness Preservation System. The debate over designated wilderness continues. The purpose of the Utah Wilderness Atlas is to provide consistent, accurate geographic information about protected areas and wilderness proposals for use by decision-makers, students, educators and the interested public.

About SVG maps

Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is an open-source XML standard for representing vector data on the Web. SVG greatly improves the appearance of maps. To view the interactive Utah Wilderness Atlas maps, you will need a browser plug-in. Click the SVG logo for more information.
